Aus Pop Tech the big first episode: we introduce ourselves.
your aus pop tech hosts are:
video editor and producer Simon McRae of The Funk Lab
and photographer & creative type DJ Paine of djp photography & the mustard empire.
this show has come out of the “ashes” of the mustardflava podcast.
plenty of offence to our old mustard flava podcast comrade jolane.
we will be positive, critical, hopefully interesting and “family friendly” - and by that we mean we will not glorifying porn, drugs and binge drinking.

we come form the land down under, the most amazing country in the world Australia.
dj paine lives in the beautiful city of the Gold Coast, south of Brisbane in the state of Queensland, Simon McRae is in the *cough cough* city of Werribee, west of Melbourne in the state of Victoria.
according to google maps we are 1,763 km {1,095 miles} – about 21 hours 38 mins - apart.
here’s a map, click on the map for more views:

our first story ever:
NIN’s “GHOST”
mr reznor
Trent Reznor’s band Nine Inch Nails goes record label free and releases GHOSTS volume I into the matrix via bittorrent.
{the entire album is the soundtrack “bed” behind this first episode}
here is the torrent via mininova.
here is the story via Mashable
here is boing boing’s take on NIN’s brilliant attitude.
note: - first week in they make a cool 1.6 million.

side notes on this story:
what is bittorrent
bittorrent on wikipedia
and simon blows all his hip indy cred by confessing his love for AM radio jock Jon Faine

our second story ever:
ZOOOMR
zooomr
zooomr is a photo sharing & storing website that has just released it’s “08″ version… we go into a little bit about the site and it’s characters…

google maps are better than yahoo
on techcrunch - “why is flickr afraid of zooomr”
on mashable - “zooomr vs flickr”
on public energy - “zooomr vs flickr”
on Technological Winter “Zooomr benefits hugely from their Web 2.0 drama”
and for fun you can read all the ValleyWag junk on zooomr. {warning: it is trashy gossip}

quickie story:
via boing boing - audio nerds can’t tell the difference between monster cable & a coat hanger.
